I came across this recipe years ago, and was so excited.  A bug spray that evaporates!  LOVE it!

Yes, it works.  I go berry picking every summer and this is my go-to.

Pros and Cons:  it's made with witch hazel, which will evaporate after about 3-4 hours.  You must reapply if you're still out in bug-land.  But if you're done being outside, then 'bug spray smell' is completely gone!  So you can go about your life without have to take a shower to get rid of the scent.
